Fear is Sticky

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
- Norman Vincent Peale

Fear is one of the things that motivates us, and I don't mean just the collection of recovering drunks or addicts that I know and car about.  Fear seems to be the biggest motivator killer known to man. Fear of the unknown seems to be the thing that makes my feet (or seat) stay stuck. Yours too?

I never really thought of fear as being sticky. I thought it was scary. But really, it's more sticky then it is scary.

Think about it. Fear keeps us stuck where we are. Remember those dreams where we can't run? We're moving in slow motion and the boogeyman is going to get us. We can't move. We're stuck. See?  Sticky.  Fear is Sticky.

So does this mean that I need a good dose of lard to get my but moving?  I don't know, but maybe I won't be upset the next time someone calls me a lard ass, I'll take it as a compliment that I'm a super hero getting one over on that monster called fear.

Today I'm confident that I can get unstuckerd from fear, I'm a super lard man!
